Freebies are usually wrong and unhelpful. More importantly, no test can tell you who you are, and no one should tell you what you are. Start with “Who” – who is this type out in the world? If it sounds like you, write it down on your DYN worksheet which you can download below.

Continue with “What” – what this type believes – the core values and beliefs of this type. If it sounds like you, write it down, and what specifically resonates.

Conclude with “Why” – why this type does what they do. The Enneagram comes down to our motivation – our “why” so write that down too.

One number, in particular, will be your dominant number, also known as your “core type.” As you embark on this journey, remember to explore all the numbers and take note of which resonate, which don’t, and which you’re not sure about. Consider these additional tips & strategies to discover your number – or just jump right in!

Think about who you ACTUALLY are, what you believe, and why you do what you do. Don't think about who you wish you were or want to be.

Consider each number over the course of your entire life (particularly those reactive teens and twenties), not just what you are like right now.

Nobody likes the 'reactive' or uglier side of their number; however, the more we dislike a number, the more likely that it's our number - sorry.

Remember, there is not one number that's better than the others. They all have their respective superpower along with kryptonite.

Here's the truth - you don't have just one number. Yes, one number is your dominant or Core Type, but all of the numbers are within you. So review, and consider rank ordering, all of them. They are all within you!

Enneagram 1s are the most principle-driven and value-based type. They are detail-oriented, diligent in their efforts, and committed to excellence in their work. They revere integrity and strive to be responsible citizens and good human beings.

You value integrity, goodness, and strive towards ideals, like Nelson Mandela. This was a man who inspired goodness in others and never wavered in his ideals.

You value responsibility in yourself, others, and in all aspects of your life, just like Gandhi did. He inspired the world by teaching us what it means to take responsibility and do what is right.

You value justice, just like Ruth Bader Ginsburg and other Supreme Court Justices who are usually known as Ones. RBG dedicated her life to service, the law, and justice for all.

You appreciate the significance of structure, systems, rules, and order, much like Plato, Confucius, and Martin Luther did. These elements help us comprehend a tumultuous world.

You value quality and excellence, if not outright perfection, demonstrated through speech, actions, and probably a tidy living space, much like Martha Stewart's world.

Enneagram 6s are the most prepared, devoted, and loyal of all types. This stems from their deep need to belong, stay safe, and provide security for themselves and those around them. They are dutiful, other-oriented, and are simply here to serve, committed to others, community, and their cause. There are two distinct subtypes: Phobic 6s, who embrace their anxiety and fear as a way to navigate the world; and counter-phobic 6s, who try to hide their fears from others, even themselves, coming across as bold, brave, and fearless.
