Meet Dr. Baruch HaLevi

I am Dr. Baruch HaLevi, but everyone calls me “B.” I am the founder of The Defiant Spirit Counseling, Coaching, and Consulting, and co-founder of Soul Centered, a center for spirituality, meaning and healing, with my wife and healer, Ariela HaLevi.

For the past twenty years I have guided people through all of life’s crossroads, or what I call, Life’s T’s: transitions, tests, trials, traumas and tragedies, through a combination of modalities and pathways.

Meaning Therapy – I am trained as a logotherapist, a spiritual-oriented, meaning-focused psychotherapy, and hold a doctoral degree in pastoral counseling.
Spirituality – I am an ordained rabbi, Kabbalah teacher, and hold a doctoral degree in divinity.
The Enneagram – I am a certified Enneagram coach and teacher, and creator of the Defy Your Number Enneagram system.

Here’s what Defiant Spirit Guidance consists of...

Rebecca encouraged me to work with "B" after my mother's tragic death. Although our work began as grief counseling, years later we continue our work exploring spirituality, meaning and healing in all aspects of my life.

Although I have never worked with Rebecca, my wife has been a long time client and she suggested I work with Baruch as I was at a midlife crossroads. B not only guided me through that period, but empowered me to transform it into a mid-life awakening.

I was referred to Dr. B when I was lost in the midst of a painful divorce. Baruch was, and continues to be, a steady and faithful companion, accompanying me on the journey, showing me how to continue to open my heart, love and fulfill my true purpose in life.

Meaning Counseling is rooted in the principles of logotherapy, using a blend of therapy, coaching, and healing tailored to your specific needs. We meet once a week, either in person, via Zoom, or on the phone, to explore your life, examine areas where you feel stuck, and engage in opportunities for growth as you live the defiant power of spirit within your life.

Next, we use the Enneagram, a psycho-spiritual personality system, or, as I think of it, a roadmap for your soul. The Enneagram is much deeper than any personality typing system; it has ancient roots grounded in numerous spiritual traditions, geometry, physics, mathematics, and psychology. It provides concrete insights into how we get stuck in our earthly form, self, and fear. It also presents clear pathways to return to our true selves, our spirit, the source of our ability to respond to our lives. The Enneagram is not another personality system that puts you in a box or reduces you. On the contrary, it empowers you to break free from your limiting labels, return to your spirit, and be free.

Your Spiritual Direction

Although I am formally trained in Kabbalah – Jewish mysticism, I am also an avid practitioner of Buddhist mindfulness and meditation, Hinduism and yoga, and the Enneagram and its Christian mystical roots. We will draw upon these ancient wisdom traditions and spiritual practices during our work together to clarify your journey and elucidate your life. We will connect with the spirit, listen to messages from Spirit, and, above all else, awaken the defiant power of your spirit. We will weave all these practices and tools into a tapestry that feels comfortable, authentic, and organic to you, fitting with your unique journey.

Probably, like a lot of Rebecca's clients, I would consider myself "spiritual, not religious." Baruch has not only supported me on my path of spiritual growth but has also helped me heal the alienation I once felt towards my birth religion, allowing me to move forward feeling more free.

After my first reading with Rebecca, I was blown away by the messages I received, but knew I needed to explore those messages at a deeper level. From the moment she connected me with her brother, Baruch has become my brother and our work together over the years has become a centerpiece within my spiritual life.
